Taiwan produces approximately 4.9 million metric tons of agricultural waste per year, with biodegradable waste accounting for 90%. To transform agricultural waste into organic fertilizer can improve soil texture, porosity, water retention, and fertility, facilitating crop root growth.
The 2024 Green Expo has begun to explore the introduction of agricultural carbon reduction and carbon sequestration technologies. Through measures such as energy saving, water conservation, and reduced pesticide use at various stages of farming, carbon emissions are reduced. By using organic fertilizer and biochar, carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is kept in the soil, generating "carbon credits." Farmers can sell these credits in addition to their agricultural products, increasing their income and helping to slow down global warming, thus protecting the Earth.
